Love is about to fall (2022) is a body of work made as an extended exploration of the artist poetry book Heart, Diamond, Club, Spade, which documents years of the artist’s struggles with relationships, wanting to leave a place, starting new lives, and the constant repeated pattern of a toxic relationship style. With a new name and a new title, Love is about to fall delivers a package of alternative emotions and messages, inheriting the poems.
The title itself poses a question: Is Love is About to Fall about the impending end of love, or the act of falling into romance? The word “fall” evokes dual meanings—a season of withering, marked by falling leaves, and a transformative period of preparation. It symbolizes transition and renewal, bridging the melancholy of change with the hope of festivity. Minjie suggests that within the rhythm of endings lies the anticipation of beginnings, making the time of expectancy one of life’s most beautiful seasons.
